Janice and I had the pleasure of meeting Sarah Lucero while spending time in LA back in March. She’s really and truly gifted in the artistry of makeup as well as the ability to educate a n00b on a product in a very approachable and realistic manner.

Some of the products she used that day for our makeovers are perfect for summer, and Sarah’s been so kind as to offer suggestions on getting the most from each piece of makeup-y goodness.

Sun Bronzing Powder SPF 15 ($28.00)

Providing a natural glow (and no sun necessary!!) while also providing protection from UVA/UVB rays, this super soft powder imparts a radiant glow, and is now formulated with SPF 15!

“This is a must–have for the summer and for all skin types and tone—it leaves your skin looking healthy and luminous,” says Lucero. “For a light, sun-kissed look, use Stila Brush #8 to lightly apply Stila Sun Bronzing Powder SPF 15 Shade #1. Dust over the nose, tops of cheeks and forehead – wherever the sun naturally first touches the skin. For a tanner look, use Shade #2.”

 

Cherry Crush Lip and Cheek Stain ($24.00)

I’ve mentioned my love of Cherry Crush before, and that love hasn’t died. Lip and cheek color at the click of a pen delivers an individualized cherry stain to lips and cheeks by reacting to individual pH levels in the cheeks and lips to create a flush and fresh bitten look that is all your own. Skin and lips get the bonus of anti-oxidant protection thanks to cherry and pomegranate extracts included in the formula.

Sarah says, “Apply with fingertips to cheeks and apply directly to lips with the brush tip applicator. On lips, wear the stain alone or under your favorite Stila lip glaze. On cheeks, layer for intensity.”

Multi-Effect Mascara ($20.00)

Sun Shimmer Dry Oil ($26.00)

In the summer heat, skin gets dehydrated with a quickness. Combat that with Sun Shimmer Dry Oil for a glistening shimmer with a touch of color and a dose of much needed moisture! Macadamia and kukui nut oils hydrate and smooth the skin and give you a healthy glow!

“I love this product for the beach because it replenishes skin that gets dehydrated in the heat,” Lucero explains. “Layer over an SPF formula for head-to-toe radiance under the sun.”

And, for the ladies who want a natural but shine free look during the coming super heated months, Lucero says, “Leave the heavy powder at home during summer months. A great trick is to lightly dust bronzer in the t-zone to remove shine and add warmth to the skin. Try using Stila Brush #8 for a soft, blendable application.”
