I wanna know…
April 14th, 2008

The situation: You’ve been a SAHM for several years, your youngest has started school, and you’re looking for a job. After countless resume submissions, you score an interview for an administrative position with an insurance company. The interview is in three days, and the dress code for the company is on the upper end of business casual.
What I want to know is:
What do you wear?

I’d definitely wear a suit, understated makeup, and a tote large enough to put in an unfolded copy of my resume and any references not previously included. Oh, and a confident smile never hurt as an accessory, either. good luck!

I think it is best to wear a suit regardless of the general office attire of the company. A suit makes for a great first impression, so you really can’t go wrong!

i agree with heather. score the job first in a suit, then fall in line with the attire. hmmm a nice skirt suit, pumps, and pearl earrings or diamond set (earrings and small diamond pendant necklace)! sorry just the image that comes to mind LOL!

This question isn’t specifically for me, I was just curious what the answer would be from our readers.
Personally, I’m a HUGE fan of Editor Pants, black pumps (or red! I have a fantastic pair of red round toed heels that just…ah…love them!), a well fitting (DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD THIS IS FOR ME TO FIND?? *ahem* I mean…do you realize how hard it is to find a well fitting white shirt?? yeeks!) white shirt, and a blazer of some kind. I’m not much for skirts because I’ve got a visible tattoo and some people just don’t like that.

I’d also dress in a suit to make a good 1st impression. I even went for a Footlocker interview once dressed in black trousers & a black fitted shirt.
